Calicampo dye studios offers exclusive custom colorway design for our clients that they retain the rights as to the sole use of that colorway as applied to a particular fiber. We can apply many varied techniques of dyeing: handpainting with many colors, tone on tone with slighter color variations, self-striping dye patterns for socks or specific garments, kettle dyeing, custom shading, plus many others. The process begins with the clients choice of fiber, desired color, and type of color application. Our dye masters choose and mix the best combination of types of dyes to fit with that particular fiber. Our color application artists apply the dye, using exacting techniques that best fix the dye to the fiber and then our knitters prepare knitted swatches of that sample. Clients then choose which color combination and which application technique they like the best. We use only the finest European organic synthetic and naturally occurring dyes from local plants, insects, and minerals in our colorants. Our dye techniques are designed to be low-impact on the environment and use as little water and electricity as possible. We insure our clients that their natural fiber products will be as wash-fast and light-fast as possible.
